This shirt features a mandala-like arrangement of 10 baneful herbs traditionally used in witches’ ‘flying ointments’; Datura, Blue Lotus, Belladonna, Mugwort, Mandrake Root, Wolfbane, Water Hemlock, Black Henbane, Poppy and the Amanita Muscaria mushroom. Each component came from a hand-cut, spray-painted stencil image combined in computer space to create the overall design. It is intended to act as a gentle reminder that whatever doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, that even poisons can act as medicine and that bitter isn’t always a bad flavor.
