For an annual investment of $195.00, your folk art CSA share will include 4 deliveries of magical folk art and related projects to your doorstep along with accompanying information about their stories. Each package will ship ahead of the four Solstices and Equinoxes (Yule, Ostara, Litha and Mabon) FOR A WHOLE YEAR! This is a great way to support the work of Nest & Tessellate while supplying yourself with unique wares grounded in place and magical folk tradition. Contents of each package will vary according to season, available materials and current research themes.
CSA stands for Community Supported Art! Just like a meat or produce CSA offered through a local organic farm, this is a folk art subscription box, with a share of my creative output for your enjoyment throughout the shifting seasonal cycles. Each box includes charms such as Pysanky (Ukrainian Eggs), Corn Dolly Poppets, Nordic Galdrstaves, Housewitch Mindfulness Tools, Lunar Calendars, Sundials and more! I work with a wide variety of traditional techniques inspired by Scandi, Slavic and Celtic rooted folkways.
Nest and Tessellate explores magical symbols, pattern language and seasonal crafts derived from traditional folk arts. My practice seeks to connect with ancestral art forms, reimagine folk charms and build relationships within community around these interests. Symbols charged with intention have been used for millennia as agents of healing and protection on textiles, buildings and household tools. Gathering precedents from around the Midwest and beyond; I hope to draw parallels between diverse sources, identify shared meanings and with help from collaborators, develop new visual lexicons reflective of current needs. The goal is to create a magical folk art for our time.
